Fishery Spotlight: Mantua Reservoir, Utah

Located in Box Elder County, Mantua Reservoir is one of northern Utah’s hidden gems for multi-species angling. From Rainbow Trout to Bluegill, Perch, and even occasional Catfish, Mantua offers a well-rounded fishing experience. As of 2025, the state applies general possession limits at Mantua (check the Utah guidebook for current regulations).

Mantua is a compact, accessible mountain reservoir that supports a diverse fishery. According to reports, anglers commonly catch Rainbow Trout, Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, and Yellow Perch here. Some of the best places to target are the two large bays — one on the southeast side (between Maple Creek and the Knoll), and another on the northeast side (between the north parking lot’s dock and the Knoll). Depths of about 16 to 19 feet have also been mentioned for good results.
